VALENTINE'S DAY = FRIEND'S DAY

VALENTINE'S DAY = FRIEND'S DAY

Let's use this Valentine's Day to celebrate our friendships. With friends, ourselves and our loved ones as well as with our significant others.

LET'S CELEBRATE FRIENDSHIP

In Finland, where I am from, we celebrate Friend's Day on February 14th when most of the world celebrates Valentine's Day. Instead of celebrating just romantic love, we celebrate friendship. Friendship between friends, relatives, colleagues as well as spouses or partners.

Starting in kindergarten we give gifts and make or give cards for our friends, sometimes even parents and grandparents to celebrate friendship. When we're older, we even celebrate the day by catching up with friends over coffee or dinner. Feels refreshing and so inclusive to draw the focus wider than just couples, doesn't it?

The fairly recent tradition of celebrating Galentine's on Valentine's Day with your girlfriends is a step towards this but I propose we take it even further... The Finnish way... Let's use this Valentine's Day to celebrate our friendships. Those with our friends, those with ourselves and those with our loved ones as well as with our significant others! Friendship comes in so many forms, all of them should be cherished <3

P.S. Our KATRI bracelets make for a lovely gift to celebrate friends, like the friendship bracelet you might have made when you were younger but elevated...
